Workplace smoking and vaping policies
We review premises and shared vehicles, staff responsibilities, contractor rules and incident reporting. Vaping rules are addressed separately from smoking law. We identify where a restriction is a legal requirement and where it is a business policy. Care settings and other potential exemptions need a specific assessment.
Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 readiness
Government guidance confirms that from 29 October 2026 the retail age of sale extends to all vaping and nicotine products at 18 and over. From 1 January 2027, tobacco products, herbal smoking products and cigarette papers cannot be sold to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009. Retailers need distinct decision rules for the two product groups.
We help review product categories, age checks, refusal and proxy-purchase procedures, staff competence and implementation evidence. Product approvals, specialist product testing and legal representation are outside these packages.
Proposed outdoor smoke-free restrictions
England consulted on extending smoke-free places and introducing vape-free and heated tobacco-free places. We distinguish proposed restrictions from enacted requirements and check the relevant UK nation and commencement dates. We do not treat the consultation as a blanket outdoor smoking ban.
Who we support
Convenience stores and vape retailers; security guarding and facilities management companies; care providers, education settings and other employers. Advice is scoped to the site, product types and UK nation concerned.
What you receive
A clear action plan, tailored policies and procedures, staff briefing materials, practical record templates and a handover checklist. The service supports compliance implementation; it is not an accreditation or a guarantee of regulator approval.
Request your readiness review
Email contact@clausetenconsulting.com with your business name, site postcode, UK nation, number of sites and whether you sell tobacco, vaping or nicotine products. We will confirm the suitable package and scope.
